Once again this morning I find myself proud of the Canadian coaches and athletes at the 2014 winter games. The picture to the right is the Canadian cross country coach replacing a Russian competitors ski after he fell and broke his own ski.
The Canadian cross-country ski coach Justin Wadsworth was watching the final after all of his own skiers had been eliminated. The Russian skier was well behind the pack but was struggling to finish. The Canadian coach took it upon himself to help out when all of the other spectators were just staring in disbelief.
“I wanted him to have dignity as he crossed the finish line,” Wadsworth, a three-time Olympian, said.
I can’t explain how proud that simple action makes me. Well done Justin !!!
