Jason Aldean: Album Review

Screen Shot 2013-12-15 at 5.11.16 PMIt’s been a while since my last music review, so I thought I would break up the book reviews with a look and at the latest effort from Jason Aldean.

If you had told me even a year ago that I would be recommending a Country Album, I would have said that your were crazy. I listen to an enjoy many different types of music from classical to heavy metal, but Country and Western has always rubbed meĀ  the wrong way.

I really don’t care about pickup trucks, dogs and the state of some guys personal relationship.

Artists like Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean have managed to position themselves somewhere in the middle between the old style country and traditional rock. The hard driving guitar, complicated Bass lines and Folk style lyrics tell stories that you can relate to from your own youth.

I spent the weekend cleaning the house and listening to this Album on my iPhone and the music made me feel good. When it comes right down to it, that is what I expect from music and movies. I don’t need a complicated plot or tons of special effects, I want to be entertained and I want to feel good.

As a musician, I appreciate the guitar and bass lines and as a writer, I appreciate the stories.

Jason will be in Ottawa this February at the Canadian Tire Place. I suspect that everyone that attends will have a good time. If you are planning to go, I suggest that you download this CD from iTunes and add it to your collection.
