The army run is an event that is put on every year by the Canadian Military to raise money for their “Soldier-on” program. It started out as a small event but has grown to the point where it sells out every year within a few weeks of the registration opening.
Along the course last year there were live bands, DJ’s, and cheering sections sponsored by many of the local Ottawa clubs. The race starts from Ottawa city hall, runs along the parkway, cuts over to Hull on the EB Eddy street bridge, comes back to Ottawa to run through some of the nicest houses in Rockcliff and then finishes back at City Hall.
The long course is 21K or a Half Marathon and I will be among the 22,000 other runners looking to better their time from last year. There are lots of exhibits and vendors which make the day quite the event.
I hope to see you all there on Sunday. For more information on the run and the course, check out: http://www.armyrun.ca/
