It’s November

November is the time when novelists write novels because it’s NaNoWriMo. I mentioned in a previous post that things would be spotty this month, but I will post from time to time when I have an interesting topic, or to update you on my new Novel.

JourneyIt’s coming along nicely by the way. I have to write 50,000 words by the end of the month and after the first weekend I’m at 22.736. Off to a flying start and it would be safe to say that 50,000 is not going to be a problem.

The book is called “Journey” and here is an excerpt from the chapter I just finished.

“Mary and Ambro watched the village through their remote eyes but it was 14 days before they were able to watch a very pregnant woman enter the doctor’s office. The doctor was very caring and helped the woman into a birthing room. She climbed up onto the table like she had been there many times before. Given the birth rate on this planet, she had probably been there every month since she was 15 or 16.

Mary and Ambro watched as the Doctor sedated the woman and waited. A few minutes later the baby dropped into a basket at the woman’s feet. The doctor seemed to check the sex of the child, which was clearly female. He shook his head and snapped the child’s neck. When it stopped moving he placed it in a cloth bag and tossed it in a chute.

Mary was in shock. “These people are barbarians”

“I don’t know what that is, but I suspect that it is not a good thing”, said Ambro. “I suspected that this is how they manage their population. Once you told me about populations in decline, I suspected that this was their form of population control.”

How did Ambro and Mary get to this planet you ask? You’ll have to wait for the book which should be available for download in December. Till then, keep you pens down and don’t stop writing.
